The theme for the conference was ‘Integrating into the construction of silk road economic belt, promoting the co operation in women entrepreneurship’. Ms Rifa Mustapha Chairperson WCIC and Ms Vidyani Hettigoda Past Chairperson WCIC attended this conference.

She also mentioned how the Silk Road Economic Belt (SREB) and the Maritime Silk Route(MSR) together connects a large number of countries in Asia, Europe and Africa, and this in turn will offer a wide range of business opportunities which will then be beneficial to Srilanka.

She passed on the message that the Silk Road is not just an economic trade route but an opportunity to create an active economic, social and cultural community, sharing mutual interests of peace, harmony and friendships which would encourage friendly relationships leading to great business opportunities.

Both WCIC participants mentioned that it was a worthy and positive experience which they believe, in the future, will provide the platform for WCIC members to network with other women entrepreneurs from the SAARC region and China.
