Power Woman of the Month
Being a qualified accountant, Samitha switched careers to venture into horticulture, where she was Director Marketing at a leading floral farm in Sri Lanka for over 13 years.
In 2008, she gradually ventured in to a career as a floral designer and a consultant by establishing own floral company ‘The Wedding Flowers’. Currently she assists the clients with the process of planning their event be it wedding, corporate event or banquet.
“We use technology to our full advantage and understand the need to adjust our working hours to suit our clients’ needs. We deem that the most vital point is to understand the brides’ vision and make that vision a reality.”
Undying passion for flowers bought Samitha this far and she even had the privilege of representing Sri Lanka by being the first Sri Lankan member of the World Flower Council. This was a great opportunity as a designer, where she was then able to take the Sri Lankan culture to international level. Samitha was recognized internationally and her work was admired by professionals, and internationally qualified designers. She further represented Sri Lanka at the Mythical Thailand and beyond, and World Flower Council Asia – Pacific Summit 2015. As an innovative designer Samitha was invited to be a part of the country design session, where she presented an arrangement with an oil lamp highlighting Sri Lankan tradition and this décor was titled “Prosperity”.
Samitha is known as dynamic entrepreneur who utilizes creativity, leadership and teamwork to design and execute solutions that creates customer value.
Backed with self-confidence, years of expertise in the floral industry and the exposure received by attending many International training programs globally, Samitha has recently launched her newest range with inventive technique in floral design - Wearable Floral Jewellery.
The art behind fresh flower jewellery is making beautiful, simple jewellery and creating fresh floral design as a wearable art form with the use of wires, beads and crystals , set with varieties of flowers. Created exciting, Colorful and unique accessories that are suitable for any occasion from proms to weddings.
Samitha has obtained membership at She-En Ikebana & The Floral Art Society of Sri Lanka recently with the hope of promoting floral art and peace through flowers.
