Nuffield School for the differently-abled students, Jaffna - Beauty Culture Project
The WCIC and the Nuffield School for the differently-abled students in Jaffna share a long, successful history with one another.
In 2010, the WCIC made arrangements for 3 differently-abled students and a teacher from the school to undergo a rigorous 12 month training program in Hair & Beauty Culture at Technique International, which is headed by WCIC member Ms. Gwendoline Kuhathewa, as part of their “Train the Trainer” initiative. Upon receiving their qualifications these individuals were able to return to the school and train others who were interested in learning the skill. The WCIC provided the Training Centre with the required equipment and has continued to do so up to date, and has also provided supplementary workshops in Book keeping and basic accounting to the students who pass out.
Also with the support of WCIC member Ms. Chandani Bandara,Chairperson of 4Ever products, further training has been organized for each batch that passes out of the course in Hair and Beauty. These workshops ensured that these women would be able to support themselves economically upon leaving school.
